It’s a superb win for the Inspired Cycling man who clocked a very fast time of 01:50:57 and comes fresh after his fabulous National Road Race title win in Kilcullen last weekend.

Madden’s time allowed him to pick up the gold medal and Ulster title in the M40 category even though he is over 50 years of age.

He can now add this to his impressive list of national records and other cycling achievements including the Derry to Belfast record he set three years ago which was fast enough to beat the train!

It’s a particularly satisfactory result for Madden too as he has missed a few races at the start of the year due to illness and injury.

To get the National title last weekend and the Ulster title this Sunday will relieve some of the pressure on him for the remainder of the season.

Madden won the 50 mile Ulster M50 time trial championship on Sunday and is eagerly looking forward wearing his new Ulster champions medal with pride.

He will be looking to defend some of his other Ulster titles towards the end of the season and has a few other big goals in mind.
