Maghery are enjoying solid start to season

The Lough Shore teams consistency over the past number of seasons has been commendable considering they won the Division 1 title in 2012 and 2013 and last year finished in the top three.

Maghery’s scoring difference is also impressive, although they have conceded 14 points more than second placed Pearse Ogs the North Armagh Men have tallied 110 points.

Two promoted sides namely Wolfe Tones and Forkhill have made reasonable starts in Division 1 and both are siting in mid-table at the moment. Killeavey who are in bottom place would appear to be in serious trouble, the South Armagh side have lost six out of six and are strong favourites for the drop.

Sarsfields also sit in mid-table following their impressive away win last Sunday over Dromintee, the High Moss however may be concerned about the fact that they have conceded the exact same amount that they have scored which is a total of 99.

Crossmaglen, who in fairness have completed just four games to date, have the tightest defence in the league having conceded just 34 points. St. Pat’s Cullyhanna who defeated Wolfe Tones by a single point at the weekend are the top scorers in Division 1 with a total of 120.

At the moment the teams who could go down are Killeavey, St. Paul’s, Carrickcruppin and Tir na Nog, Annaghmore are also in the relegation mix but they might have learned enough from last years experience in Division 1 to avoid he drop.

In Division 2, An Port Mors win over Clann Eireann last Sunday has propelled them to top spot, the Clanns however have a superior scoring difference of 35 points over their Second Division rivals.

At the bottom of the table St. Peter’s and Eire Og are both on four points just above the relegation zone and although Clan na Gael have just one win to their credit this season they should pick up enough points to avoid the drop.
