Magic Molloy completes clean sweep of awards

TREVOR Molloy completed a clean sweep of Glenavon's 'Player of the Season' awards on Saturday as he claimed both the Alan Steele Memorial Award and the Glenavon Victoria Supporters' Club's awards.

The 32 year-old winger has been in fine form, dazzling fans with skilful displays week in, week out and was a favourite for the trophies that he adds to the stewards’ Player of the Season award and a Triangle Supporters’ Club’s accolade.

Molloy has improved immensely since the arrival of current boss Marty Quinn when he was on the transfer list and is now a fans’ favourite thanks to unquestionably his best spell in a Glenavon shirt to date.

“He’s cleaned up, the wee man,” approved boss, Quinn, who was full of praise for his star player.

“He’ll have lots of silverware to fill his shelves at home now. He had a good season, finishing with 19 goals and that’s a good return by anyone’s standards, especially playing most of his football out wide.

“As a wide player, he’s one of the best and he’s as good as most when he plays through the middle as well. He’s an exceptionally talented all round player with that word flair thrown in. He can do the unexpected and he has so many tricks in his locker that you never know what he’s going to do.

“He’s a very highly respected player in the League of Ireland too. I was down south at the weekend and he has a great reputation for being a top class player in that league before he moved on.”
