‘MAIL’ Man of the Match on Saturday

MARK my words - Brian McCaul is going to be a star.

The on-loan Linfield man was again my pick of the Glenavon players on Saturday thanks to a fantastic first-half display that led him to his third goal in three matches.

The winger was at the centre of almost every Glenavon attack before the break, torturing the Coleraine full-back as well as making his trademark runs into the box and finding himself in the right place to score.

It’s certainly no coincidence that he has picked up a habit of getting on the scoresheet and if these sort of performances continue, boss Gary Hamilton will surely be doing everything he can to tempt the 21 year-old into staying at Mourneview Park after his loan deal expires at the end of the season.

Hamilton was impressed with the winger’s display on Saturday, along with those of his central defenders.

“Brian did very well again on Saturday, in the first-half especially,” he began.

“Jay Magee and Kyle Neill were outstanding for us though. They did really well. It’s been difficult for Kyle because he’s been playing all over the place. He played at centre-back on Saturday and didn’t let us down. He’s a good honest pro and the dedication he shows to his team-mates and the club is fantastic.”
