Malone taught a lesson by U13s

DROMORE gave Malone U13s a lesson in how to play rugby at Barban Hill on Saturday.

The visitors were up for a game when the whistle went and drove the home team back to their 22 but when the ball went loose captain Mathew Pepper ceased on the opportunity and ran out with the ball and swiftly passing to Robin Cantley and David Lyttle to score under the posts which was converted by David Lyttle.

After the restart Malone pushed Dromore back to their 10 metre line and looked to have numbers to surely score in the corner but a loopy pass let Dromore’s number five Peter O’Connor catch the ball and run the length of the pitch to score a great try which was converted by Roger Russell.

The Malone pack rallied and with some fluid driving in the ruck were pressing hard but then

Ben Henshaw stole the ball and passed to Dromore’s number 10 Rhys Dale who drifted a lovely pass out to Robin Cantley. He ran half the pitch to score under the posts for a try which was converted by Rhys Dale.

Dromore’s confidence grew and in the second half dominated the line out scrums rucks and any lose ball.

Passing off in the tackle was a particular favourite of Connor Woods and vice captain Aaron Lyttle. Richard Dickson played his part at full back coming into the line at every opportunity.

Dromore scored at will with James Moore making a late arrival to the game and adding his turn of pace helped Dromore score four more trys with three conversions from Rhys Dale, Roger Russell and David Lyttle.

Some training ground moves came off which must have been pleasing for new U13s coach Claire Kidd and the ever present Nigel Dale.

The crowd that turned up to watch were treated to a great game played in great spirit even though Malone were well beaten they played valiantly to the end some poor referring decisions went against them but when its not your day nothing goes right.

Well played Dromore who were the better players on the day and also well played to all the new Dromore players - Rory, Nathan, Ryan and Will - who played well in their first ever match.
