Manager decision imminent

There has been a deluge of interest in the post since Marty Quinn resigned last week and the board hope that his successor will be named sooner rather than later.

“Hopefully it will be a matter of days, but you never know in this game,” said a tight-lipped Glenavon chairman Adrian Teer on Tuesday evening.

“We had a meeting and discussed the applicants but nothing has been finalised yet.”

Interim manager Pat McAllister has expressed his interest in the job, claiming that he is the “best man for the job.”

“I know every player inside out and I know their strengths and weaknesses,” he told the ‘MAIL.’

“People might say that I’m a gamble and a rookie but at the end of the day, you only have to look at the managers in the league like Scott Young and Oran Kearney.

“I came up against Oran when he was at Limavady and I was at DC. He’s now at Coleraine and has done a great job there.”

Meanwhile, rumours are rife that former Cliftonville boss Eddie Patterson is also being considered for the job,

“The club are aware of my interest - I’m just sitting tight and seeing what happens,” Patterson told the BBC.

Legendary Glenavon and Linfield striker h Glenn Ferguson is also rumoured to be interested.
