Mark goes to the Top of the Class

Mark King from Desertmartin won the Large Saloon class in the both of the final rounds of the NI and British Autotest Championships.

These wins confirm Mark as the Large Saloon Champion on both sides of the Channel.

Mark has competed in his ultra lightweight Vauxhall Nova but needed both wins to secure the titles from nearest rival, Sligo’s David Thompson. The double success now means Mark will represent NI in the forthcoming Ken Wharton International team event at Birmingham in October.

Steven Ferguson has extended his tally of autotest championships and entered the motorsport record books again.

In 2011 he equalled a long standing record, held by John Lyons and Sam Bowden, when he completed the ‘Autotest Treble’, winning the ROI Hewison Championship, the NI Championship and the MSA British Championship in the same year.

In 2012 Steven has gone one better and not only has he repeated the treble, he has added the prestigious British Trials and Rally Drivers Association title to his impressive list of titles.

Steven is the only driver ever to have won the ‘Double Treble’ and the only driver to have held the four major titles at the same time. He is also currently a member of the winning team for the 2 major team events held so far this year, The James Pringle International and the MSA Inter Associaton events.

With the third team event, the Ken Wharton memorial, being held in October there is an opportunity to rewrite the record books yet again.
