Mark is the fastest man at Hillclimb as Natalie goes on opening drive

Banbridge man Mark Crawford scored his first ever outright car speed eventing win in the hillclimb competition of the Cultra Hillclimb Event at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum.

Driving his Jedi Mk6, Crawford opened his account with what would turn out to be his first event-winning time and was the only runner to dip below the magic 32sec target for a good Cultra time, all day.

Crawford, who won both the F2 Irish Libre Championship and Phoenix Park Libre race in 2012, is concentrating mainly on the NI Sprint Championship this year.

It was also a special weekend for Natalie Kane from Loughbrickland as she was joined by Louise Aitken-Walker, Irish legend Rosemary Smith and Jenny Kennedy from Crossgar on the official opening drive by the Museum’s latest restoration – the McCandless ‘Dorothy Car’ driven by the head of NMNI Collections Care, Siobhan Stevenson.
