Mark's successful summer marked by school

ST Patrick's College pupil, Mark Downey from Dromore, proved victorious once again in the summer cycling calendar.

Mark is a member of Banbridge Cycling Club and in June he came first in the Northern Ireland Championship road race.

This success was replicated in the Ulster Championship in Dromara when Mark won both the time trial and the road race.

The high point of the season though was the All Ireland Youth Cycling Championship which was held this year in the South Tyrone area. Once again, Mark proved he was the man to beat in the U14 category.

He achieved first place in the time trial and the criterium and was awarded the green and white jersey for his success.

Mark will compete next week as part of the Ulster team in the Inter-regional games being held in Newport, Wales. Mr Carlin, the staff and the pupils of St Patrick’s wish him every success.
