MARTIAL ARTS: Olympics inspire TaeKwonDo Club members

The 2012 London Olympics has brought many new sports to the attention of the public, none more explosive the the South Korean Martial Art of TaeKwonDo.

What many people may not know is that Coleraine has had a TaeKwonDo club for over 15 years, teaching both kids and adults self-confidence, respect and discipline.

Following the success of TaeKownDo at the Olympics, ten students from Coleraine participated in the first annual Extreme Poomsae Competition on 25th August.

This saw them competiting on technical ability against other clubs from across the province.

With a result of 23 Gold, 12 Silver and 7 Bronze - Coleraine TaeKwonDo Club took the overall Club trophy

Under the instruction of 4th Dan Master William McLaughlin, Coleraine TaeKwonDo Club train at Christie Primary School on Monday and Wednesday nights from 7pm to 8.30pm.

New members are always welcome, with the first night free of charge.
