THE Breeder and Buyer Young Bird Race, now in its sixth year, has created many success stories..

Martin McDonald, this year's winner, is just one of the examples. Only new to the sport last year you can imagine the buzz he got.

Martin has won in his first season but this win has been so special to him.

He has been helped along and into the sport by his family members and good friend Seamus Green.

Seamus introduced him to the sport and club and also to the ways that have brought Martin sucess.

Witha hobby run completely in his back garden Martin had set a few pointers for those starting out..

You don't need an extensive site, because his garden in Pinebank is so small he has only room for his loft 16 feet x 6 feet, so he doesn't have alot of birds.

His Blue Pied Hen, Miss Pinebank, is the winner of 1,000 because he raced it and Rodney Adamson, who bred the bird, has also treceived of 1,000.

Miss Pinebank was bred from Rodney’s family of pigeons and is related to many winners that have scored in this year's club and national results .

Martin just got married this year and missed part of the year's young bird programme, so next year he will have his wife Kara to help him.

She said she will help him to spend this year's winnings.

Congratulations also to Joe Brown, runner up this year and winning 500, he won the race three years ago.
