Mary Peters Trust competition held

Ballycastle Golf Club Competition Report

THE Mary Peters Trust charity stableford competition was held at Ballycastle Golf Club on Saturday.

The weather was pleasant and Patrick Campbell, playing off nineteen, was the day’s top scorer after an excellent round which yielded a total of 44 points.

Patrick now progresses to the regional finals of this competition which will be held at Lisburn Golf Club in September. Second place in Saturday’s competition went to Gerry McConville with a score of 42 points, third place was awarded to Tony McConville for his level par round which gave him 42 points and David Getty took the fourth prize, also with a score of 42 points.

The day’s gross prize went to John Callan, playing off four, who like Tony was round in level par for 36 gross points. The club wishes to thank all those who took part in this competition and as a result, 150 will be donated to the Mary Peters Trust on your behalf.

A gent’s stableford competition was played at Ballycastle on Sunday 18th April and Brendan McGarry, playing off nineteen, was in sensational form as he strolled to victory with an incredible score of 47 points!

Andy Boyle was also in impressive form as he compiled a score of 43 points to take second place on Sunday with John Armstrong in third on 42 points and Steven Devlin in fourth place with 41 points.

The April monthly medal will be played at Ballycastle Golf Club next Saturday and on Sunday, there will be an open charity team competition to raise funds for the R.N.L.I.

Teams of three or four can enter, ladies and gents combinations are welcome and the format is the best three stableford scores at each hole to count.

A final reminder that the closing date for entries into the club’s summer match-play competitions is Friday 30 April.
