This race was hosted by Lakeland CC at Colebrooke estate and riders of all ages from the club made the trip.

The team included David, Colin and Curtis McKee, Josh Murray and Stuart Suckling – and it proved a worthwhile day out for the guys.

The hero of the day was Stuart Suckling who finished second in the B category on the fast firetrail/singletrack course.

Stuart had attacked from the start and had led the most of race, only to be pipped by 10 seconds into second place on the finish line, with Colin McKee 8th and Josh Murray in 9th.

In the under 8 race, young Curtis McKee proved that he will be a force to be reckoned with in future years, finishing 2nd – well done Curtis.

His father David also competed in the A race, finishing a credible 16th against a high-class field.

In the coming weeks, the Maryland Wheelers will be focusing on the pre-season organised training events known as the reliability trials, which culminates in Maryland’s own event on February 15 – known colloquially as the ‘grand national’ of these events.
