Match called off after neck injury to Antrim player Jude McCurdy

A neck injury to Antrim’s Jude McCurdy (pictured above in his club colours)resulted in a premature end to Sunday’s All-Ireland Minor Hurling quarter-final against Waterford in County Meath.

The Saffrons half-forward suffered the injury in the latter stages, as Waterford looked set for a semi-final berth, leading 4-20 to 1-9. With McCurdy continuing to be treated the ref eventually abandoned the game. The GAA rule-book states an abandoned match must be re-fixed. However, Waterford officials were adamant that the GAA would have confirmed on Monday morning that they would be awarded victory.
