Matt reels in top spot as fishery earns half a tonne for charity

Islandderry Trout Anglers held the first of their annual charity competitions at Islandderry Fishery recently, raising £585 for Huntingtons Disease.

Islandderry club member Matt McFadden from Lisburn took first place with a cracking three fish bag weight of 16 pounds one.

That was made up of three fish weighing seven pounds eight, four pounds two and four pounds seven.

The men from Lisburn were in-form as second place went to another angler from the city.

This time it was Francie Hearst, who landed a lovely eight pounds twelve fish, which went towards his bag weight which totalled 14 pounds six, all caught on drys.

Third place went to club member Gerry Teggart from Belfast. He bagged a a three fish bag of 12 pounds 12.

The fishing was excellent with a huge amount of fish caught and a lot of fish moving on the top of the water.

The club would like to thank everyone who supported the competition and sent a huge thank-you to everyone who donated prizes and helped to raise money for Huntingtons Disease.

The next competition at the fishery will be the Irish Disabled Fly Fishing Association Pairs competition on Saturday 14 June. This competition will raise money for the Disabled Fly Fishing team.
