Matthew takes first place

The second round of the winter league took place at Islandderry Fishery on Saturday.

Some good sized trout were caught including 2 over 8lb. Matthew McFadden, Lisburn was lucky enough to land one of these weighing in at 8lb8 which helped him take first place in this round with a 3 fish weight of 14lb12. Second place went to Peter Reid, Dollingstown with a 3 fish weight of 13lb4. Peter’s boat partner Greer Gardiner bagged fourth place with 3 fish for 12lb11. Third place went to Lisburn angler Barry McKibben with a 3 fish weight of 12lb12. The next round of the league will be held on December 14. The next open event at the fishery is the Irish Disabled Fly Fishing Association Pairs competition on December 8, running from 9.30am to 3.30pm. This event is to raise money for the Irish Disabled Fly Fishing team and is open to everyone. Bookings are now being taken for the Boxing Day Fly Fishing competition.
