McAlpin wins PG Stevenson competition
FINN McAlpin, playing off six, recorded two good birdies at the eight and ninth on the Dunluce links on Saturday to win the PG Stevenson Cup.
A couple of bogies at 15 and 17 threatened to derail his chances but Finn’s 41 points total was one better than David Craigan on 40.
David had three birdies on the return leg but an unfortunate double bogie at the seventh cost him his chance of glory. Dr IO Madden also had his chance but a poor finish, a blank at 16 followed by bogies at 17 and 18 proved costly.
John Finnegan Jnr had the best gross of the day with his return of 71 beating Gerry McAleese on the back nine.
