McCarron inspires win

Gransha Institute...5

Hatmore Harps...3

GRANSHA Institute were without the services of a regular keeper in this game and they were caught cold on five minutes when a deflected shot from Ryan McCloskey caught Alan Blair flatfooted and Hatmore found themselves with a surprise 1-0 lead.

Gransha Institute started to settle after this and started to play some good football and on fifteen minutes they were right back in the game when Sean McCarron scored to level the game at 1-1.

Within a minute Gransha Institute took the lead for the first time in the game when an excellent finish from Aidan Harkin made it 2-1. Five minutes later Gransha Institute managed to extend their lead after good approach play that saw McCarron score his second goal of the game as ’Stute led 3-1. McCarron then went on to complete his hat-trick soon after and at this stage Gransha Institute looked home and hosed.

Two minutes before the break Hatmore managed to pull a goal back when O’Hagan finished well to leave just two goals between the sides.

The second half saw Gransha Institute control the game for long periods and they increased their lead when McCarron scored his fourth goal of the game to make it 5-2.

Hatmore pulled another goal back when Dylan McDermott scored to make it 5-3 but ’Stute then managed to close the game out and although they created further good chances they failed to capitalise but they had done more than enough to win the game and the gap at the top of the table still remains eleven points.

This weekend it’s a case of top versus bottom in the RathMor MOT Centre/Taxi Co First Division with bottom club Collegians hosting Gransha Institute at Leafair (KO 10.30am)
