Lower Maze opened the scoring early on when they caught the Towns defence napping. A couple of minutes later they were on level terms when Redpath played the ball through to McCavitt who fired home the equalizer.

The Town pushed forward but Maze were working hard in defence. Wilson won the ball out wide and played it infield to Donelly who tried his luck from distance, the shot was saved but McCavitt was there to finish from the rebound and give the Town the lead.

Lower Maze came back and were pushing hard to cut the deficit but the Town’s back three of Casey, Quigley and Carswell were throwing themselves into tackles to keep them in front.

The Town made it 3-1 before the break when Donnelly and Annett linked up well, Annett’s shot was saved and McCavitt was on hand again to score a memorable hat trick.

Redpath came close and Woods fired just over the bar as Lower Maze hung on. The fifth goal came when Woods swung in a corner which was met by McCavitt who finished with style.

Redpath then latched onto a poor kick from the keeper and placed it back past him to make it 6-1.

The Town weren’t finished yet and McCavitt who was having the game of his life, powered down the right, played it into Moore whose shot was saved, McCavitt hit the rebound against the post and Donnelly was on hand to make it 7-1.
