McConville set for timely return

The Trasna side have three wins so far this season against Shane O’Neills, St. Paul’s and Pearse Ogs.

The Hoops will be looking for further wins to consolidate their top flight status and they have some tough games in the pipeline. St. Peter’s have made steady progress since they were promoted from Division Three and they took a lot of people by surprise when they were promoted from the second flight last year. With three teams facing relegation any one of five sides could find themselves in trouble.

This seasons new approach to the under 21 series has proved to be a big hit with the young players particularly those who are out of minor age and are attempting to make a breakthrough at senior level.

This years competition is split into two divisions which have their own sections containing four teams in each, the winners of each group will go straight into the respective semi-finals and it would appear minor football will continue in early June.

Last weekends round of games saw wins for Pearse Ogs against Sarsfields 0-17 to 2-09, Clann Eireann lost at home to Grange 1-11 to 2-12, St. Peter’s defeated Wolfe Tones 6-09 to 2-04, Clan na Gael had an emphatic 4-15 to 1-07 win over Ballyhegan.

This weekend Sarsfields host Carrickcruppin, Clan na Gael travel to Mullaghbawn and St Paul’s are at home to Clann Eireann, Wolfe Tones host Keady at Derrymacash.
