McCourt signs new Celtic deal

NORTHERN IRELAND international Paddy McCourt has ended speculation that he's leaving Celtic, after signing a new three year deal with the Parkhead club.

The 26-year-old midfielder was linked to a move to Premiership new boys Blackpool in recent months, but after having talks with Neil Lennon he has decided to remain with the SPL side.

The former Derry City man has been with the Glasgow giants since 2008 and is a fans favourite due to his wing wizardly and last season he scored a wonderful solo effort against St Mirren which Celtic fans and Sky Sports viewers voted their goal of the season.

"I am absolutely delighted to commit my future to Celtic. As a Celtic supporter, everyone knows the feeling I have for the club," McCourt told Celtic's official website.

"It was an absolute dream come true to sign for the club in the first place.

"This is where I want to play my football and I now look forward to the challenges ahead and fighting for my place in the team."
