McDonald's and IFA coaching programme at Wakehurst

CHILDREN from Ballymena primary schools will be amongst over 4,000 children throughout Northern Ireland participating in McDonald's and the IFA school curriculum coaching programme in 2010, a key part of McDonald's Community Partnership with the IFA.

To celebrate local primary school pupils from will be participating in a special football festival being hosted by McDonald’s and the Irish Football Association at Wakehurst on Friday 21st May from 10am to midday.

The festival is part of McDonald’s and the IFA’s programme to encourage more children to get involved in playing the game. The partnership also aims to drive grassroots football by providing opportunities for coaches and volunteers to gain coaching qualifications, thereby increasing access to qualified coaching for children throughout Northern Ireland.

The festival will be led by local IFA Grassroots Development Officer Wesley Gregg, who highlighted the benefits of the programme;

“McDonald’s partnership with the IFA is enabling more and more young people to become involved in and enjoy football in the Ballymena area through events such as our local festivals and primary school coaching sessions. I am really looking forward to our upcoming festival and I know that all the children will have a great time,” added Wesley.
