McDonald's Coleraine staff battling for a place at Hampden

CREW members from McDonald's Coleraine restaurant will be competing against fellow staff teams from across Northern Ireland in a unique football tournament, all vying to win the opportunity to play at Scotland's national football stadium, the 52,000 seater Hampden Park.

The ‘McDonald’s Cup’ comprises staff football teams from across the UK and a female Coleraine team, Jennie’s Angels, and male team, Coleraine Mac’s, will be participating in the Belfast Regional Heat, which takes place on Monday 17 May. The winners of this will then go on to represent Northern Ireland in a special finals day against staff teams from England, Scotland and Wales.

Once again McDonald’s crew members have the added incentive of playing in front of goalkeeping legend and McDonald’s Head of Northern Ireland Football Pat Jennings, who will be presiding over this year’s event.

The Northern Ireland footballing legend said: “I’m very much looking forward to the McDonald’s Cup as it is both a competitive and fun event. We had a great tournament last year and from some of the tackling on display it was obvious how much the staff teams wanted to win the right to represent Northern Ireland in the Grand Finals.

“Hampden is a fantastic stadium and playing there will be a great thrill for whichever one of our staff teams gets through.”
