McGonigle holds his nerve

THE Riverside Bar A squad were celebrating last Thursday night in the Sportsman Inn, Feeny, after they clinched their second team cup of this season after a thrilling final.

The Riverside Bar A team from Ballykelly fought off the strong challenge from McKeever's of Claudy as it went to the final game where Martin McGonigle held his nerve to hit the winning double and secure the Avis Rent A Car Cup (City of Derry Airport).

This cup victory may well make up for Riverside Bar A being runners up to McKeever's in the league.

Congratulations to the Riverside Bar A for winning this cup and credit to the recently crowned league champions McKeever's for being good runners up.

Credit must also go the two beaten semi-finalists in Eglinton Cricket Club and Sportsman Inn in reaching the latter stages having to win two other games the previous week.

As expected the standard of darts was exceptional over the two weeks but especially last Thursday night. Last Saturday night's lottery bonus ball winners was McKeever's with no. 45.

Tomorrow (Thursday) night is the Bob Mullan Motors sponsored league singles competition and the venue will be decided at the monthly meeting in Donaghy's pub. All representatives at this meeting should report back to their players the venue and the start time. The entrance fee is 3 per player.
