McGowan the winner at Brown Trout

THE O’Neil Cup was the fare at the Brown Trout over the past weekend and was played in medal format. Tommy McGowan (8) was the clear winner with a great score of one over par 71.

Opening with a one under 34 which included birdies at holes 4 and 8 Tommy included another birdie at the 12th and ended up with a two over back nine 37 netted down to a winning score of 63.

Two shots back with a net 65 the man in form Tom Boyd (9) had to settle for runner-up place with nines of 36 and 38 for a steady round which included 14 pars and 4 bogeys.

In third place Trevor Cupples (18) returned nines of 43 and 41 netted down to 67 to edge out last week’s winner Maurice Torrington (14) and Malachy Laverty (14) on countback both with net 67s.

Donal Mulholland (2) won the gross prize with a round of 74. The twos kitty was divided between five players: M. Laverty T. McGowan D. Mulholland G. Hamilton and T. Cupples.
