McGrath nets top prize in Moyola angling event

THE water conditions were good, if very low for this time of year, when members of Moyola Angling Club took part in their Ciaran Duffin Memorial Cup competition.

This suited those using fly for a change, although it was noted that most anglers choose bait. There were 5 juniors turned out, with Jospeh Spiers securing his second win from two in this category. Some 23 seniors cast off, thus making the event very competitive.

First place went to Tommy McGrath using fly, second was Barry Diamond bait fishing, and third Patsy Harkin, also on the fly. A big well done to Tanya Steele who weighed in three fine trout thus doing a lot better than her male counterparts. And, gratitude once again to Fergal for providing the soup, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed!
