McIlwaine hopes for Larne victory in Cup

RISING rugby star David McIlwaine this week said it would give him great pleasure to see Larne complete a league-and-cup-double as the Glynn men prepare to take on Letterkenny in the Gordon West Cup final at Ravenhill this weekend.

McIlwaine, who came through the youth ranks at the local club, made his Ulster debut earlier this season and also played in the Heineken Cup campaign.

The 21-year-old full-back, who currently plays for Queen’s in the All-Ireland League, described Saturday’s clash as “another milestone” in the history of Larne Rugby Club and wished the players, coaches and club official luck for the showpiece match.
