McIntyre qualifies for Darren Clarke trophy

THE hugely popular Darren Clarke Perpetual Trophy qualifier, which was played on Saturday in near perfect conditions saw Paul McIntyre (17) with 43 points was the leading qualifier after a break of tie finish, second was Jarlath Clarke (14) after he too scored 43 points. The CSS was 69.

In the fourth of the very popular Foyle Friday Open Stableford Competitions, the large turnout enjoyed a course in pristine condition and it took a three way break of tie to decide the winner, after all three players finished on 44 points.

Coming out on top was Colin Smyth (15) he got the verdict virtue of his superior back nine of 24 points, second spot went to Jim McGrotty (20) and Brian O’Kane (18) claimed third place.

Last Wednesday’s confined stableford competition another close finish saw Martin Kivelehan (5) with 42 points win after a BOT finish, second place was secured by Gary McEvoy (23) after he too finished with 42 points, while a further point adrift in third spot also after a BOT finish was Cormac Cassidy (14). The CSS was 69.

Today (Wednesday) until Sunday, June 6 was the confined golf class (teams of 4 any combination), re-entry permitted and this competition is a club fund raiser.

Tomorrow sees the over 50’s confined competition take centre stage.
