Fresh from their Intermediate Cup victory over Brantwood, Slane took the lead on ten minutes when Mark Jardine made a great run down the left and cut inside only to be hauled down by the Banbridge full back. David Boyd stepped up and slotted home the spot-kick.

Slane were still on top as Chris Kerr and John Whitten missed chances. It was soon 2 -0 when Andy Moore played a long ball onto McKee’s chest and he turned and drilled home from the edge of the area.

Five before half-time, Slane made it three after a great ball from Dean Heasley fell to McKee at the back stick for a tap in.

On the hour, Slane scored again when Heasley played in Andy Moore who finished into the bottom corner.

Neil McCullough then introduced Jason Gibson, Mark Anderson and Steven Adair. They made an instant impact when Adair swung in a corner that fell to Anderson who met it with the sweetest of left-foot volleys, leaving the keeper with no chance.

Next it was Adair’s turn when he was played through. He rounded the keeper and slotted home. Anderson then got another when he scored a glancing header at the front post and McKee rounded off the scoring when he drilled in the eighth and his third of the afternoon.
