McKinstry impresses in Glenarm victory

The event started in the village and followed a picturesque course through the forest and Castle grounds before finishing back in the village.

In a field of almost 100 athletes Fit N Running’s in form McKinstry ran a composed tactical race as he allowed the lead group to open a big gap after a fast start.

By the 2k marker even paced McKInstry was back on terms as he shared the lead with Nat Glen of East Coast Runners.

The duo interchanged the lead through the later stages before McKinstry made the decisive move with 400 metres to go to come home in a personal best time of 17 mins 39 secs with a 6 second advantage over Glen in 2nd.

CLUB TRAINING

Fit N Running are based at the Michelin Athletic Club in Ballymena. They train on Tuesday evenings at 6.15pm. There is also a session on Saturday mornings at 9.15am.

The club cater for the full range of runners from beginners, juniors though to intermediate and advanced athletes.
