McKinstry makes Mark at Woodburn

FIT N Running athlete Mark McKinstry was in action last Tuesday as East Antrim Harriers staged the second race on their forest series at Woodburn forest park.

On his first outing since his 3 hour 27 min marathon effort in Belfast Mark produced a fine performance to claim 7th place and improve his time by 37 secs from last year crossing the line in 17mins 25secs.

Also in action last week was Conor McQuillan who made his park run debut on Saturday morning. The 14 year old finished well up the field in 9th place in a time of 20mins 17secs.

Last Friday evening saw a large turn out of club members at the joint stag/hen party for Kerry McCollum, Natasha Rea, Louise Gage and John Carleton who are all due to get married in the forthcoming weeks. A good night was had by all at the Michelin Club.

LUNCH AT MONTGOMERYS

Following training on Saturday 2nd June club members will attend the reopened Montgomery’s cafe for lunch.

Mark Montgomery is a member of Fit N Running and his team mates would like to wish Mark and his family success and good luck for the future.

Meanwhile club training continues as usual. Training times are as follows Monday and Tuesday evenings 6.15pm and Saturday morning 9.15am.

All the sessions are at the Michelin Athletic Club. Monday is a core stability circuit class followed by an easy 40 min run.

Tuesday is a speed interval session including drills to improve stride length and leg speed. Saturday morning is an easier speed session followed by a strength power circuit.

The club welcomes new members of all levels and abilities from beginners and juniors through to advanced standard.
