McKinsty makes ‘Mark’ at Parkrun

FIT N Running athlete Mark McKinstry was a runaway winner with a big personal best performance at the 36th Ecos Parkrun at the weekend.

In ideal conditions, Mark swept around the course in 18 mins 27 secs with the chasing Michael Thompson of Orangegrove a further 17 secs back in second place.

Off the back of a winter strength training programme it was a 1min 4 sec improvement on his previous best for the gifted 29 year old.

Also in action was Peter Drennan who finished in 24th place 22mins 45secs.

There was an overall entry of 95 runners at the popular event.

BALLYMENA UNITED

Fit N Running member Chris Rodgers scored the opening goal for Ballymena United in a 3-0 victory over Ballinamallard at the Showgrounds on Friday night.

CLUB TRAINING

Fit N Running are based at the Michelin Athletic Club in Ballymena.

They train on Tuesday evenings at 6.15pm. There is also a session on Saturday mornings at 9.15am. The club cater for the full range of runners from beginners, juniors though to intermediate and advanced athletes.
