McMurray and Anderson top Section C from Clonmel

The NIPA were in Clonmel on Saturday for the fourth Old Bird race of the season. The birds were liberated at noon into a south-westerly wind.

The race itself turned out to be one of the most testing in recent years with many empty perches by nightfall. The top bird in Section C belongs to Ligoniel partnership of McMurray and Anderson.

Larne and District HPS: (37/924) 1st, 2nd, GKI Moxham 1631, 1622; 3rd, L and S O’Neill and Sons 1619; 4th, R and M Robinson 1554. Thirty-seven Larne and District members sent 924 birds to Clonmel. Past National winners G,K and I Moxham took top spot. The Moxham team timed a yearling hen, which finished fifth in Section C.
