McVicker hits top checkout of 161

Social Club’s Alan McVicker raised the standards once again this week with a excellent display that saw him top the 180 club with his fourth 180 of the year as well as recording the best individual leg of darts with a 13 dart leg and recording the highest checkout of the year with a superb 161 (T20, T17, Bull) finish.

There was a number of top performances this week with the best coming from Conrad Watson (Thatch) and Jimmy Elliott (Scotch House) who both had legs in 15 & 20 darts Conrad also hit a 116 checkout while Jimmy Elliott had a excellent 125 checkout. Other top performances this week came from Jason McNeill (Kellys) who had a 180 as he won with legs in 17 & 21 darts, Alan Boyd (Sperrin) with legs in 18 & 20 darts, Ronnie Riley (Floyds B) with legs in 19 & 20 darts and Joe Donnelly (Thatch) who was in excellent form to defeat the talented David Finlay hitting a 180 and taking legs in 19 & 20 darts. The only other 180 on the night was thrown by Tommy Dorrans (Floyds B) though David Finlay did score a 177.

This coming Friday will be the Alan Murdoch Memorial 5-a-sides, this is an open competition and the venue this year will be the Coleraine Social Club, All teams are asked to be at the venue and registered for 8.30pm so the draw can be made and games started as early as possible

Hawker Hunter Memorial Cup

This year’s Hawker Hunter Cup was played on Saturday past in Floyd’s Bar with several of best local players entering the competition as well the BDO’s number four ranked player Paul Brown. There was some excellent darts on display throughout the day in the end the final was contested by Paul Brown and last year’s winner Rodney Kane. Despite throwing some excellent darts and having several chances Rodney eventually lost 5-1 to Paul ‘Big Browner’ Brown in a superb final which was thoroughly enjoyed by all watching.
