Medal blow for Hannah
THERE was disappointment on Sunday for Larne Grammar School teacher Hannah Irvine, from Whitehouse, when Northern Ireland dropped out of the medals in the European netball championships in Cardiff, beaten 52-45 by Wales in their final match.
The losing margin of seven goals was also a blow for national coach Elaine Rice, with the opening match against Scotland on Friday lost by only one goal, 45-44 and having defeated the Scots twice in Singapore in December.
England retained their title undefeated beating Scotland 60-30 in the concluding match of the three-day event, preceded by a 64-39 victory over Northern Ireland on Saturday.
