Medal success for Causeway Club

A team of Judoka travelled from Causeway Judo to Belfast to compete in the Abbey Judo open event revently.

Some great judo was exhibited on the day, and a lot of hard fought contests ensued, eight fighters from Causeway competed, resulting in four golds, two silver and three bronze, all fighters did their club and town proud.

A jubilant coach Alan Ashcroft said: “This success certainly resurrects past memories and achievements of Causeways Judoka, eight fighters andnine medalsisincredible. The four gold medallists, Gavin Moore, Mark Young, Kailum Clyde and Logan McIntyre fought outstandingly, with Gavin Moore competing in two divisions with a total of five fights.

“To further enhance this success, Causeway fighters Jim O’Kane, Samantha Wade, Sophie Wade and Bamber McKay also gained second and third place rankings on theday. Causeway now look forward to preparing for the Northern Ireland schools and British masters and aim to capitalise on thissuccess.”
