Medals success for Brady at Irish Masters indoor event

Larne AC’s Rhonda Brady made the trip to Athlone to participate in the 2015 Irish Masters Indoor Track Championships on Sunday. She completed a superb medal double over 200 metres (bronze) and 400 metres (silver).

Elsewhere, seven Larne AC members competed at the Glenariff Mountain Race in Waterfoot.

First home from the club over the six-mile course was Bryan Magee in 52:40 (20th). Nigel Kane was next in 56:17 (3rd Male Vet 45, 31st overall) followed by David Noble (1:04:04, 54th). Amy Beggs was Larne’s first female to cross the line (1:14:49, 71st) with Elaine Hall next in 1:15:17 (72nd place).

At the Jimmy’s 10k, Ian Brennan finished 119th (43.05) followed by Gillian Logan in 149th (44.35). Valerie Mulholland took 645th (1.17.04).

David Noble ran the Dune Half Marathon between Newry and Dundalk in a time of 1:25:11 (24th).

n It was another weekend of success for the Larne-based North Belfast Harriers.

First up on Saturday at the prestigious IAAF Antrim International XC at Greenmount where junior Harrier and XC star Callum McIlroy got the weekend off to a great start. He produced a fantastic performance to just miss out on a top-five place in a very closely contested race at this international event.

On Sunday, Penny Lindsay and Greg Lavery travelled to Downpatrick for the Jimmy’s 10k.

Lindsay ran 40.24, taking the honours in the Vet Female 45 category with a massive personal best of over one minute as she continues her preparations for the London Marathon.

Lavery showed a return to form,claiming the Vet Male 40 Category with a 35.55 time.

Finally the weekend saw Harriers top the men’s standings and complete a full house on the ladies’ podium at the 66th running of the ever-popular Larne parkrun at Carnfunnock.

In the latest weekly timed 5k event, David Clarke led the men home and was first over the line in a time of 18:37, while Janice Plumb achieved the same feat for the ladies and also added a personal best performance in 20:34.

PBs were also achieved by Trisha Campbell (21:38) and Carol Clarke (24.41) as they finished as second and third ladies’ respectively.
