Mehaffey to follow Peru test with Portugal event

Scarva's Olivia Mehaffey took the first steps this week towards building on her dream 2015 campaign with an appearance in Peru.

The South America Amateur Championship challenge opened today (Thursday) and will run until Sunday.

Mehaffey enjoyed a string of tournament wins last year and arrived in Lima ranked 11 within the World amateur standings.

Alongside the fairways, the teenager will also be hitting the airways for an appearance in Portugal as part of Ireland’s nine-strong panel.

The Portuguese International Ladies’ Amateur Championship next week will mark another exciting challenge.

She also has her sights set on securing a Curtis Cup spot against the United States for the high-profile June tournament.

Highlights across last year for Mehaffey included tournament joy in Wales, Ireland and Scotland alongside selection for the Vagliano Trophy and Junior Solheim Cup.
