Memorial cup events reach semi-final stage

The two end of season Memorial competitions in the Ballymena and District Snooker League have reached the semi final stage after last week’s matches.

In the Robert McFall Memorial competition, Potters Hotshots continued their good end of season form with a 5-1 win at 147 Pistols.

Corey Sweeney and Steven McIlroy both recorded 2-0 wins with Willie Eakin’s draw with Ryan McQuillan securing a semi final match against their Potters teammates who earned a bye to the last four by winning Division One.

The other semi final will be an all-Minnesota match between the Strikers and Minnesota B.

Strikers edged a tight contest with Dunloy United with Gary McAleeses respotted black ball win over Brendan McTaggart negating the need for an extra single frame decider.

In the other semi Rory Kinney’s 2-0 win against Billy Millar proved to be the decisive match for Minnesota B to eliminate Minnesota Rockets.

In the Gerard Robb Memorial trophy, Parochial Lions’ 5-0 win over Dunloy Cowboys gave them a semi final match against 147 Antrim who defeated Allstars 5-3 in Antrim.

Robin McCaughey’s 2-0 win against Adrian McGonagle proved the deciding factor after teammates Ian templeton Jason Smyth and Mervyn Campbell had all drawn their games.

Seagulls Potters, beaten finalists in the Charity Shield, have a shot at another final after a 5-3 win against Parochial Hawks.

James Nesbitt had a 2-0 win over Danny McGarry to put his side on their way although Hawks Niall McElroy just missed out on forcing an extra frame losing a tight second frame against Ivan Boreland.

Potters Elite the Division 2 champions will host Seagulls Potters in the other semi final.
