Michael and Harry have the Hart for a shock

Harry Hart and Michael Reid certainly rocked the boat when they beat David Verner and Michael Beattie Hillsborough Social in the final of the National pairs Lisburn Zone qualifiers at Soldierstown on Saturday night.

The Rock pair were even surprise finalists but they went all the way to join the Stubbs brothers, Gordon and Raymond in the National finals.

It was a good night for Rock who won the ladies pairs and triples to add to their collection.

Ballinderry’s Raymond Stubbs reached three of the four National finals and could do a clean sweep when the triples are played at a later date.

National singles: Raymond Stubbs Ballinderry beat Noel Graham Loughaghery, Gordon Stubbs Ballinderry lost to Nigel Charles Soldierstown, Michael Beattie Hillsborough Social beat David Peden Ballinderry.

National pairs, Gordon and Raymond Stubbs Ballinderry beat Eddie Marsden/Paul Reid Ballinderry, David Verner/Michael Beattie Hillsborough Social lost to Harry Hart/Michael Reid Rock.

Ladies triples, Bridie O’Rourke, Sally Duffy, Ann Laverty St Joseph’s lost Heather Fleming, Marie and Sally Cushnahan Rock.

Over-55 pairs, Raymond Gourley/Philip Dennison Loughaghery beat Houston Dillon/Richard Martin Soldierstown.
