The two finals ended in tie ends before the winners emerged as Michael Bunting, Lurgan, over Eddie Crawford, Mossley in the main event and Saintfield’s Roy Copes in the Plate competition against John McCandless, Downpatrick.

Crawford started with a four and was 7-3 up at five ends. He was still 11-5 ahead at the tenth but Bunting lifted fours at 11 and 12 ends to lead 31-11. Crawford came back with four at the next end and it finished 17-17 at 18 ends with Bunting getting the winning double at a tie end.

In the Plate final, McCandless lifted five at the fourth to lead 6-3 at the fifth and 14-10 at ten ends. But, in a 15 ends game Copes came roaring back to level 16-16 at the finish and went on to get the winning double at the tie end.

At the supper afterwards, Hilden president, Raymond Gourley, thanked Shellard Tiles for their generous sponsorship. He paid tribute to club members who helped in any way and anonymously.

He paid a special mention to greenkeeper, Howard McMullan, Colin and Joan Montgomery and Joe and Ann Keenan.
