Michael v Nick in rinks final

The Lisburn qualifiers for the National Championships got under way with the rinks on Friday night at Lisnagarvey High School.

The final will be Michael Beattie, Ballinderry against Nick Haire, Hillsborough Social, following the completition of the two sections.

In the semi-finals of one section, Jonathan McMullan, Hilden beat Gordon Stewart, Glenavy and Beattie beat Gary McWilliams, St Colman’s Lambeg.

Beattie’s rink, which included Albert Morrison, Noel Marsden and David Peden won against McMullan’s four, which included R. Montgomery, David Sloan and Howard McMullan.

In the other section, Glen Harvey, Anahilt Presbyterian, beat Cecil Aicken, Sloan Street and Nick Haire won against Paul Cairnduff, Seymour Hill.

Andy Riley, Robert Greer, Nathan and Nick Haire beat C. Poots, Brian Kerr, Jim and Glen Harvey in the final.

The Championships will be completed with the Over-55 Pairs at Priesthill Methodist Church Hall on Tuesday, November 5 and the Ladies Triples and Junior Pairs in Eglantine Parish Hall on Friday November 8. Finals night will be in Eglantine Hall on Saturday, December 7.
