Michelin end Craigs’ Glass Cup fairytale

MICHELIN’S wonderful indoor bowling season continued last week as they added the George Glass Cup to their recent Ballymena and Distyrict League and League Cup succeses.

As expected, the Woodside Road outfit were too strong for Craigs, the surprise qualifiers from the Churches League section.

On mat one Grant Robinson’s were in control in their game with Billy Herbinson’s Craigs four and prevented their opponents from getting on the scoreboard as the ran out winners by 9–0.

On mat two Patsy Boyd’s Craigs four were in control in the early stages of their game with Wes Caldwell’s rink and built up an early five shot lead. Unfortunately the could not maintain that momentum and allowed Michelin to come back to get a narrow 7–6 win.

On mat three Robert Kirkpatrick’s four started the better in his game with Matthew Boyd’s charges but again could not maintain the effort throughout and came out on the wrong end of a 7–4 score-line.

On mat four Graham Wilson kept up the charge for Michelin in his game with Richard Rodger’s and came through by 7–1 in a game which was not as clear cut as the score-line would suggest

After the interval Michelin had to work hard to keep up the momentum and both sides made changes to allow other players a game and on mat one Graham Wilson shaded his game with Patsy Boyd by 10–7
