Mid-Antrim horse show takes place this weekend

One of the most eagerly-anticipated highlights in the Mid-Antrim equestrian calendar takes place in Ballymena this weekend.

The Mid Antrim Horse Show will be held as usual at the Ballee Playing Fields, Ballymena on Saturday 25th June starting at 9am.

This year there will be all the usual registered Tri Equestrian sponsored classes including the prestigious Tri Equestrian Ulster Region 1.35m Summer Tour, which always attracts the big names.

In Ring One the registered classes will start with the 90cm clear at 9am and go on through the levels with the final competition being the 1.35m Grand Prix supported this year by friends of Mid Antrim Hunt.

In Ring 2 the Amateurs will start at 9.30am, followed by a new 1 metre speed competition. After that the poles will be very much lowered to accommodate the non-registered competitions.

Junior Jumping, 50cm, and 70cm competitions will have clear round rosettes with with prizes in kind. The 80cm, 90cm and 1m will jump off for cash prizes.

The Amateur class is kindly sponsored by Anthea Moffett.

The Registered classes are all part of the Tri Equestrian Ulster Region summer tour League and will hope to match the success of last year’s competitions.

The course will be built by Raymond Jess and family who always bring such professionalism to the event with their expertise.
