John McAnally, Roy Kernohan, Dessie Shaw and Jim Cameron were involved in a really close game against L Burne and right up until the final end there was never more than 3 shots separating the 2 teams.

The lead changed on several times, however with 17 of the regulation 18 ends played the scores were tied at 14-14 so the game effectively went to a final end shoot out.

Unfortunately for the Braid men it was the visitors who claimed the win when they picked up 4 shots to leave the final score 18-14.

Keith Burnett, Liam Lyness, Peter Millar and John Greer did not get off to the best of starts against D Barr and after 4 ends they trailed 8-0.

This was still the margin after 11 ends but over the next 4 ends the Braid men played themselves back in to the game and with only 3 ends remaining the gap was down to 3 shots.

That was as good as it got for the Ballymena rink as the visitors scored 8 shots over the final ends to record a 23-12 victory.

The visiting rink skipped by A Weller settled down much quicker than the Ballymena rink of Bertie Thompson, Tommy Crooks, Paul Davison and Nigel McFadden.

After 4 ends the visitors had established a 4 shot lead but if the visitors thought that they were on course for an easy victory, the Braid men had other ideas.

The Ballymena rink totally dominated the remainder of the contest. Scores were level at 7-7 after 10 ends but the home rink blew their opponents away when they outscored the visitors by 16 shots to 1 over the remaining ends to win by 23 shots to 8.

John Houston, Willie McNabb, Leslie Jackson and Davy Balmer took on B Lynn and the game was effectively over as a contest at the half way stage of the match as the Ballymena men won 8 of the opening 9 ends to lead by 10 shots.

Nine singles were scored during the second period of the game with the Braid men eventually claiming victory by 18 shots to 9.

This week Ballymena Midweek travel to Ewarts.
