MILK CUP PREMIER: Aspire dump holders United out

Qatar's Aspire have dumped holders Manchester United out of the Milk Cup Premier Section.

Two goals from Jasper Uwaegbulam after half-time saw off United's challenge despite an injury-time strike from Tyler Blackett.

It was a well deserved win against four-time winners United and ended their hopes of a third consecutive victory.

Aspire's Head of Football Michael Browne was thrilled with the victory.

"All the boys did their jobs fantastically well, and the only disappointment was to concede the goal right at end and holding on a bit with the time the referee was adding on."

Aspire now face Desportivo Brazil in the quarter-finals.

Spurs are also through to the last eight following a 1-0 win over KV Mechelen and now play Donegal Schools 93.

Tottenham coach John McDermott praised the Belgian opponents and shirked off the favourites tag which his side have inherited after United's exit.

"It was a very, very tough game and the Belgian side were better than us in first half in all honesty," McDermot said.

County Tyrone bounced back from their opening day defeat to Manchester United by being the only county team to win a Premier Section game on the second day as they edged out Queen of the South in Portrush after a double from Matthew Clarke was added to by Coalan McAleer.

South Coast Bayern grabbed their first win of the tournament with a 3-1 success against County Antrim. Thomas Robinson was on target for Antrim.

Elsewhere it was a fruitless day for the County sides with Londonderry losing 3-1 to Shamrock Rovers, while Cherry Orchard defeated Armagh 2-0.
