Minis in action

DROMORE Minis played local rivals Lurgan at Barban Hill on Saturday.

Large numbers of P2 and P3 played well spirited Leprechaun Rugby. Dromore Hawks Ladies Rugby captain and vice captain Sandra Morton and Clair Allen coached their teams to winning ways.

P4s head coach Neil Pepper must have been proud to see his son lead the scoring early on. Phil Bradfield too was happy after some training ground moves paid of with no less than four phases of play for every try scored.

P5 and P6 seemed to be in charge of their matches but some rueful referring decisions went against the home side to let the visitors into the game again.

P7 had stiffer opposition with the Lurgan Tiggers great running off rucks and some great tackling let the travelling side slip in three tries without reply.

After a rousing half time team talk from Nigel Malcomson and Alister Potts the Eagles came into their own with stout tackling and passing the ball along the backs, helping Josh Potts and Adam Hanna to a brace of tries but if Adam Whitten and Jack Harte hadn’t supported Dromore backs would have been left wanting.

This was a great day’s rugby and a lot of smiling faces - this is what the club wants to see, said Dromore Mini’s top coach and Convenor, Stephen Wilson. He also thanked all the helpers for making the day special.
