Missed penalty leaves the Threes to a draw with Cookstown

It was the battle of the thirds at Havelock on Saturday and Banbridge earned a 1-1 draw with Cookstown with only one place separating the sides in Junior Two.

With several players missing Ben McConnell and Nathan Liggett stepped up from the fourths.

Against the run of play, Cookstown opened the scoring when Adair was drawn out of his goals by a Cookstown forward who slipped the ball to the other forward to finish.

Bann kept pressing forward and after a ball was played into the Cookstown circle by Marshall, Dean was on hand to deflect the ball past the Cookstown keeper.

With the game entering the last ten minutes Bann were awarded a penalty stroke when Kennedy’s shot was blocked on line. Anderson stepped up but fired his effort straight at the keeper.
