In the first half it was close with many shots at goal from both sides. Dalriada’s Natalia Rygielska, midfield, made some good runs to the back line and centre forward Rachael Kennedy, was there to take a shot at goal.

However, Limavady’s solid defence left them unable to get the ball into the net. With a close opening half, the score at half time was 0-0.

In the second half Dalriada began to pull away, spending most of the second half in Limavady’s half.

Dalriada’s defence worked hard to keep their goal line clear. Dalriada made many attempts at scoring but despite their efforts, they couldn’t get the ball in the net.

Megan McBurney placed a super ball across the face of the Limavady goal however Charlotte Calderwood, Forward, wasn’t quite able to reach it. Shortly after, the final whistle blew with the final score 0-0.

It was a great match with the weather favourable to both teams. Both teams played really well and it was a close fought match right to the end; the score not really reflecting how well Dalriada played.

The team would like to thank Limavady Grammar and their coach and umpire, and thanks to Dalriada’s coach Miss Wharry and their umpire Mrs Parke.

Weather conditions were perfect and Dalriada started strongest of the two teams.

Laura Finnerty struck a powerful shot past the keeper in the third minute. Milenka Rygielska had an outstanding game for Dalriada in defence and attacked at every opportunity down the right causing Limavady many problems.

Dalriada were unlucky to concede through an own goal to leave the score 1-1 at half time. Play was interrupted by a facial injury to a Limavady player who had to leave the pitch. This seemed to disrupt Limavady and Dalriada but the home midfield worked tirelessly to get the win.

Olivia Mullan’s strong and determined run down the right paid off as her shot was deflected off the opposing team’s stick with two minutes remaining.

DALRIADA U13B 2

LIMAVADY GRAMMAR 0

The U13 B team also played against Limavady Grammar in an entertaining game.

First half of the match Dalriada played well but were only using the middle of the pitch instead of using all of it and going out wide.

The mid fielders also need to get on the right side of the ball, but defence did really well holding a good shape and Dalriada were able to score two goals.

The first goal scored by Julia Lyons and the second by Julie-Ann Wilson. Over all it was a good match and a good victory for the B team
