Mixed fortunes for bowlers

LONDONDERRY lady bowlers had an impressive 75-62 victory over Ballymoney in the Provincial Towns Womens Bowling Association last week.

Unfortunately neighbours Limavady lost 52-78 to Ballymena.

While in the men’s Northern Ireland Provincial Bowling Association Progressive Building Society Senior League City of Derry had a narrow 80-79 win at Portglenone.

In Progressive Division 1 League Brooke Park easily defeated Ballycastle 86-51, but North West neighbours Limavady lost 84-65 at Ballymoney B. City of Derry B had a narrow 69-61 success over Coleraine B in the Progressive Division 2 League, but Limavady B lost heavily at Kilrea. In the Progressive Division 3 League Dungiven defeated Riada 79-56 while Lisnagelvin lost 62-45 at Dunluce B.

In the Progressive Sutherland Cup first round saw City of Derry, Limavady and Brooke Park all lose to Fairhill, Kilrea and Ballymoney B respectively.

The NIPBA Pairs round one takes place tommorrow (Thursday) night, while on Friday the NIPBA Tripes first round takes centre stage; on Saturday both Dungiven and Limavady have home matches against Ballymena and Rathfriland respectively in the Irish Junior Cup first round.

Next Monday, May 10 City of Derry visit Coleraine in the Progressive Senior League, while next Tuesday, May 11 in the Progressive Division 1 League Brooke Park host Cookstown B and Limavady entertain Ballycastle and on Wednesday, May 12 in the Progressive Division 2 League Kilrea take on City of Derry B and Limavady B host Castlerock and in the Progressive Division 3 League Dungiven entertain Lisnagelvin.
